My mother seemed to enjoy sewing clothes for me and my siblings. During my elementary school years, my mother used to sew almost all our clothes. At that time, there were five of us: my older sister, myself, my brother (who is one year younger than me), my sister (who is two years younger than me), and my baby sister (my parents bought all her clothes as far as I can remember). My mother also enjoyed shopping. After we moved to Long Island, gardening became her primary hobby. She took care of several houseplants, and always maintained gardens full of flowers around the outside of our house. After we moved, she stopped sewing; she bought our clothes from thrift stores or discount clothing stores.
For fun, my mother enjoyed drinking, and hanging out with friends. She and my father had three different friends that they visited regularly (about once or twice a month). Each of their friends had children that my siblings and I could play with (while the adults socialized all day and most of the night). My mother also watched a lot of TV.
