What was the hardest part of being a teenager?

This is an interesting question…I imagine that my answers have changed with each decade that has passed. Based on what I remember, the hardest part of being a teenager was the difference between my imagined ideal independent life, and reality.

I spent the first half of my teenage years daydreaming about how “perfect” everything was going to be when I left home; the second half was spent learning some very difficult lessons about what it took to become self-sufficient (shelter, food security, and safety).
